Chintan Upadhyay is a contemporary Indian artist born in 1972 in Partapur, Rajasthan, India, and did a BFA in Painting from M.S. University, Gujarat, India in 1995 and MFA in Painting Faculty of Fine Arts from M.S. University, Gujarat, India in 1997.
In 2012, he received the Bristol, UK, Charles Wallace Foundation Award for Residency. Originally a painter, the artist now makes sculptures and installations, the surfaces of which he paints. The Pet Shop project, which is an ongoing production of a "model baby" for every season, is possibly his most well-known sculpture endeavour. Additionally, he is the founder and director of Sandarbh, a nonprofit organisation that hosts residencies, workshops, and other programmes to advance the arts and raise public awareness of modern art practises in rural India. A small village in Rajasthan called Partapur is the site of a radical experiment that attracts artists from all over the world and from India.
